This is a permanent role at the Mount Maunganui site. Working hours are 4 days/nights on – 4 days/nights off on a roster and will vary from 36 hours to 48 hours per week. Hourly wages will be $32.00 to $40.00 incl. shift allowance (overtime paid extra), depending on the candidate’s skills and experience.

You will be part of the Vacuum Refinery Team and play a crucial role in meeting production targets, ensuring plant uptime and meeting all quality and safety requirements. This is an active operator role with a hands-on component that requires good physical fitness.

Your responsibilities will include…

  • Monitoring and ensuring efficient and safe operation of the Vacuum Plant, including boiler and turbine
  • Working cooperatively with other staff as needed to ensure the whole site works efficiently
  • Making sure the Vacuum Plant is operated efficiently to achieve optimum results
  • Ensuring all necessary testing and documentation are completed
  • Liaising with production and packaging staff regarding the correct product being produced and sent to correct storage
  • Replacing or cleaning of filters, fitting other spares as needed, washing and flushing plant as required
  • Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained (i.e. spills cleaned up and plant kept clean and tidy)
  • Operating equipment in compliance with plant SOP’s, create maintenance requests where required
  • Ensuring that environmental risk is minimised
  • Communicating with other team members
  • Completing Permit to Work documentation
  • Raising Maintenance Requests

We will be looking for a self-motivated professional with the ability to multi-task and a belief in doing the job safely. You further need an organised and forward-thinking work style and be a real team player.

The following skills and experience are required:

  • 5+ years’ experience operating manufacturing plant
  • Ideally experience in a food, chemical or similar manufacturing environment
  • A good technical insight into industrial and manufacturing processes
  • Ideally experience with steam boilers
  • Be mechanically inclined
  • Dedication to follow established procedures, especially safety and quality
  • Practical and analytical skills capable of producing fast and accurate decisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with good personal discipline
  • Strong commitment to teamwork
