This is a permanent full-time role at the Mount Maunganui site. Reporting to the QHSE Manager, you will lead the Quality and Food Safety Culture on site.

In your daily work you will…

Lead and manage the quality assurance activities which broadly include quality control, product testing & release, quality training and quality assurance systems (including product specifications) to ensure product and processes meet relevant legal requirements and certification standards.

More specifically you will…

  • Manage all Laboratory functions of the site laboratories (following GLP)
  • Manage all Lean & continuous improvement activities around systems / quality and efficiency in the Laboratory
  • Manage and participate in product testing and final product release at Mount Maunganui
  • Manage or assist with product testing and technical support where required
  • Assist the site by monitoring compliance with Pharmaceutical and Food Safety manufacturing requirements
  • Lead, develop and motivate all staff in your area and ensure effective people management
  • Create Engagement and Alignment with company Purpose, Vision, Values and Objectives
  • Ensure effective test plans for bulk salt pre-ship and shipment load-in to meet company, customer and regulatory requirements
  • Assist external inspectorate bodies associated with quality and product hygiene to maintain registration and certification
  • Review and authorise release of pharmaceutical batch files
  • Report the status of any non-conforming product and agree disposition of product in consultation with QHSE Manager as necessary
  • Make sure that all critical laboratory deviations are investigated and resolved
  • Approve testing, contract testing facilities and validation protocols/reports
  • Complete reporting as required by the function

The successful candidate will need…

  • A BSc or NZCS in Chemistry, Food Technology or similar
  • 3+years’ experience in a laboratory, ideally food/pharma manufacturing
  • Experience managing a Quality Assurance function and product testing (ideally in food/pharma)
  • Ability to think strategically and be forward looking
  • Proven track record in leading, managing and engaging a technical team
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership
  • To be a team player with people skills – able to influence and work collaboratively across the business
  • Experience facilitating external regulatory and third-party certification audits
  • Experience with Food Safety programs, ideally HACCP and FSSC22000
  • Experience with pharmaceutical GMP
  • Experience implementing and adhering to ICH-GMP, ISO, MPI
  • Good everyday computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • To have an organised workstyle and be relied upon to work independently
