Unique career opportunity for a person with leadership and management experience in a primary production or manufacturing environment.

This is an iconic NZ site near Blenheim and part of a successful medium sized business with a stable and committed team. They produce a key ingredient to the food, industrial and agricultural markets.


The business operates in a very productive collaboration with its parent company, an Australian/Pacific leader in their industry.

Utilising Lean principles, you will take care of the functional management of the solar salt field, including its current and future requirements, and so contribute significantly to the success of future harvests. In this role you will have one direct and four indirect reports (up to 30 during harvest) and answer to the Site Operations Manager.

You will be an active member of the Site Management Team and may over time develop to take on additional responsibilities.

 

In your daily work you will…

·      Be a leader in the area of HSE, lead by example and be active in developing and executing the H&S Strategy

·      Develop and execute a Solar Salt Field Maintenance Plan

·      Develop and execute a Solar Salt Field Efficiency Improvement Plan

·      Prepare for and manage the annual harvest (March/April)

·      Manage contractors (principals and employees)

·      Ensure all opportunities to promote improvement of the company are taken

·      Maintain policy and procedures to operate the Solar Salt Field with least risk of environmental issues with local Councils and/or neighbours

·      Encourage excellence in people management by promoting teamwork and fair relations with all employees


To be successful in this role you require…

·      5-10 years of site/plant/facility/primary production site management

·  A suitable tertiary qualification in engineering, science or similar (or similarly qualified by experience)

·   Demonstrated knowledge of safety systems in an industrial/construction environment and dedication to safety in the workplace

·      Ideally experience with construction or civil works and associated plant and equipment

·      A positive attitude to cost effective performance

·      Demonstrated strength in continuous improvement, Lean knowledge is required

·      Self-motivation and good personal disciplines that ensure success

·      Practical and analytical skills to produce fast, accurate decisions

·     Leadership and strong interpersonal skills along with commitment to teamwork, both on site and across the wider business in NZ/AUS

·      Strong problem-solving skills
