Great opportunity to join the lab team of a leading food manufacturing business in the Bay.

This is an iconic NZ business with production in the North and South Island of New Zealand and a very productive cooperation with its Australian parent company. Producing a key ingredient to the food, agricultural and pharmaceutical industry, they are the major player in their market with exciting plans for the future.

In this fixed term role (4 months, potentially longer) of Laboratory Technician, you will be part of a skilled and dedicated lab team and based in their Mount Maunganui Head Office. Due to Covid-19, the work hours are temporarily 4.30am to 1.00pm. Strict health and hygiene protocols are in place, to ensure everyone can perform their work safely.

Your daily work will include…

  • Conducting routine in-process and finished product testing
  • Water and raw material testing
  • Lab support functions as required (i.e. ensuring clean working materials)
  • Maintaining records to Food and Pharmaceutical standards
  • Reporting of all test results
  • Quality control surveillance of all processes
  • Working in seamlessly with the team and cover for others as required
  • Adhering to all site safety procedures
  • Working within procedures and work instructions in the Lab

The successful candidate will need…

  • Formal science qualification
  • 2 or more years’ experience in a QC laboratory
  • Ideally experience in the food and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • Good basic computer skills with Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to follow procedures and work instructions exactly
  • Excellent accuracy and good cross-checking habits
  • To have good communication skills within the team and wider business
  • To take responsibility for reliably meeting deadlines
  • To be a “no-fuss” team player, actively looking to support the team in every aspect
