This is an iconic NZ site near Blenheim and part of a successful medium sized business with a stable and committed team. They produce a key ingredient to the food, industrial and agricultural markets.

The business operates in a very productive collaboration with its parent company, an Australian/Pacific leader in the industry.

Utilising Lean principles, you will identify, lead and manage capital projects in areas of Business Excellence/Improvement, Essential Replacement, Food Safety, Health and Safety, Security and Environment. This role reports to the Site Operations Manager.

In our daily work you will…

  • Scope, propose, undertake and manage capital projects as required, including personal supervision of critical stages of important work

  • Identify and manage process improvements to ensure all production plants operate at maximum efficiency and within quality standards set by the company

  • Plan the replacement of company capital items and equipment and provide forward notice

  • Manage contractors (principals and employees)

  • Ensure all opportunities to promote improvement of the company are taken

  • Maintain policy and procedures to operate all projects with least risk of environmental issues with Local Councils and/or neighbours

  • Lead by example in the area of HSE and ensure the management system in place is maintained

  • Encourage excellence in staff relations by promoting firm and fair relations with all employees


    To be successful in this role you require…


  • 10 years’ engineering management experience

  • A suitable tertiary engineering qualification or be similarly qualified by experience

  • Experience in general engineering or process industry management of a similar type of operation / product range

  • Experience with project management and capital works implementation

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety systems in an industrial/construction environment and dedication to safety in the workplace

  • Ideally experience with construction or civil works and associated plant and equipment

  • Self-motivation and good personal disciplines that ensure success

  • Practical and analytical skills to produce fast, accurate decisions

  • A positive attitude to cost effective performance

  • Demonstrated strength in continuous improvement, Lean knowledge is required

  • Leadership and strong interpersonal skills along with commitment to team work

  • Strong problem solving skills
